Does Walmart Have a Military Discount? (2026)

No. Walmart has no company-wide military discount. But one group of veterans does get a Walmart deal: people receiving the VA Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit qualify for Walmart+ Assist, which cuts Walmart+ in half to $49 a year. Here is who qualifies and what else is available.

What Walmart+ Assist is worth

$98 down to $49 a year saves $49. On the monthly plan, $12.95 down to $6.47 saves $6.48 a month, or $77.76 a year. For a veteran on a VA pension, that is the only Walmart discount tied to military service.

Which programs qualify for Assist

Walmart’s own sources disagree. The Walmart+ help article lists 14 programs, including Federal Public Housing, the VA Veterans and Survivors Pension and Pell Grants. Walmart’s Terms of Use (updated September 28, 2026) list eight: SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, SSI, TANF, TTANF, NSLP and LIHEAP. If you qualify through VA pension or a Pell Grant, verification decides; try it during the 30-day trial.

Where military families can save instead

Walmart’s sister company Sam’s Club runs membership offers for the military, and many other retailers give a standing military discount. See the military discount comparison. For groceries, Costco gives new members who verify military status a Shop Card.
