Verizon’s “Those Who Serve” discount covers military, first responders, nurses, teachers and students. On Verizon’s newest plan, Simplicity (launched June 16, 2026), it is 10% off each eligible line. On older myPlan Unlimited plans it is a flat amount per account: $10 a month with one line, $25 with two. Seniors get a separate 55+ plan only in Florida.

Who qualifies in each group
- Military: active duty, retirees, veterans, current and former Guard and Reserve, Gold Star families.
- First responders: state and local firefighters, EMTs and EMS, police (troopers, sheriffs, deputies, local police), including retired and volunteer.
- Nurses: currently employed LPN, LVN, NP and RN nurses and respiratory therapists with a valid NPI number. Retired nurses and CNAs do not qualify.
- Teachers: currently employed K-12 teachers and post-secondary faculty at public and private schools. Retired teachers do not qualify.
- Students: enrolled college, graduate and vocational students; the student must apply personally.
What the 10% is actually worth
On Simplicity at $45 a line, 10% is $4.50 per line a month; for someone switching at $30 a line, it is $3, bringing the line to $27. Two switching lines cost $54 a month. Most of that saving comes from Verizon’s Switch & Save price, which every new customer gets; the group discount adds about $3 to $4.50 per line on top.

Seniors: Florida only
Verizon states that its group program “doesn’t include senior discounts.” The only 55+ offer is the Florida 55+ plan on Unlimited Welcome for account owners 55+ with a Florida billing address: $20 a month off one line or $30 off two lines.
Contradictions on Verizon’s own pages
- The Simplicity plan says “Max 12 lines” while the military FAQ says the discount covers “up to 4 mobile lines”; the student FAQ allows 2 lines.
- The 55+ page still advertises a 3-year price guarantee, which no longer applies to sign-ups after June 16, 2026.
What other sites get wrong
- “$25 per line for military” describes retired plans.
- “Health care workers qualify.” Verizon’s nurse discount is limited to LPN, LVN, NP, RN and respiratory therapists with an NPI number.
- “$15 off Fios.” The current home internet discount for these groups is a percentage, not $15.
