Best Buy has no military discount, no student discount and no teacher discount in 2026. A Best Buy team member answered on bestbuy.com: “While we don’t offer a military discount…” The student program quietly disappeared from the site in 2023. What Best Buy offers instead is its paid membership, My Best Buy Plus and Total, and those are worth doing the math on.

Checked on October 7, 2026 against bestbuy.com, Best Buy’s answer on its own Q&A pages, archived versions of the former student page and ID.me.
What happened to the student discount
Best Buy never published an end date. In 2022 its student page said “All students of all ages qualify” and offered a sign-up. In August 2023 the “Student Deals” link disappeared from the menu, and the old address now shows a general Back to School page without any sign-up. Back to School sales are open to everyone.
The teacher discount page
bestbuy.com has a page at /site/shop/teacher-computer-discounts. It has a general FAQ, but no discount amount, no sign-up and no terms. It is a product listing page, not a teacher program, and ID.me states: “We are not aware of Best Buy offering Teachers community discounts.”
What you can use instead: My Best Buy membership
| Plus | Total | |
|---|---|---|
| Price per year | $29.99 (since June 4, 2026; was $49.99 in 2023) | $199.99 |
| Rewards | 1% back in points | 1% back in points |
| With Best Buy credit card | 6% back | 6% back |
Plus pays for itself from points alone at about $2,999 of spending a year, or at about $500 if you also use the Best Buy credit card. For most people buying one laptop a year, a sale event matters more than any membership.
